( vi ) supposed. However this may be, we believe this is the first regular biography of Dayananda Saraswati. published in any language in India. The author had to travel much in the up-country for the collection of materials for his work, and he has succeeded very well in putting them together. Bengal has need of knowing and appreciating a man like Dayananda, and we would gladly commend this work to our countrymen. We hope, this book will be translated in Hindi, Gujrati, Marathi, and even in English, to enable the people at large to appreciate the views of the great reformer. We eagerly wait for the publication of the second volume of this work and we earnestly appeal to all sentlemen who may be in possession of facts regarding the life of Dayananda to place them at the disposal of our author, who by the pubiication of his work, is certainly laying the country under the deepest obli- vation, Horr oF THE 3 AUGUST 1896 :—This is a very ably written review of the life and works of Swami Dayananda Saraswati, by one of our most promising writers.
